Navaratri is a 9-night festival celebrating Goddess Durga’s victories over the demons that represent the negative qualities that keep us from realising our true, eternal self. The Divine Mother, in the form of Durga Maa, is the Remover of Miseries. She appears in 9 different forms, each an embodiment of the qualities that one needs to advance on the spiritual path.
Katyayani Devi is a fierce form of Shakti. She is widely known as the war goddess who killed the demons of anger and hatred. While She is compassionate, She is also strict and disciplined to help us advance towards the Divine. We pray to Her to destroy diseases, sorrow and fear and to bless us with wealth, salvation, success, passion, a good mate, and a deep spiritual life. Her colour is Peacock Green/Blue.
