Navaratri is a 9-night festival celebrating Goddess Durga’s victories over the demons that represent the negative qualities that keep us from realising our true, eternal self. The Divine Mother, in the form of Durga Maa, is the Remover of Miseries. She appears in 9 different forms, each an embodiment of the qualities that one needs to advance on the spiritual path.
Skanda Mata is the mother of Muruga, the warrior god and commander of the celestial armies whom She holds on Her lap. She is the Mother who gives the power to vanquish all negativity. By holding Muruga, Skanda Mata shows how She is holding all of us. If you pray sincerely from your heart, ‘Maa, I really want that’, She will accept it and you will feel Her. She will help you and She will give you what you want and do everything for you. Her colour is yellow.
